Our Story
Built by Expats, for Expats in Dubai
Desert Sports was founded in 2023 with a simple idea: bring people together through sport. What started as a few friends playing floorball quickly grew into a thriving Dubai expat sports community.
As word spread, our WhatsApp group grew to more than 150 members, connecting expats across Dubai who were looking for more than just sports. They were looking for friendship, routine, movement, and a place to belong in a new city.
Listening to our community has always been at the heart of Desert Sports. As demand grew, so did our offering. Members wanted more sports, more structure, and more ways to connect socially and stay active, and we built exactly that.
Today, Desert Sports is a multi-sport social wellness community in Dubai offering:

Our sessions are designed to be welcoming and accessible, whether you are new to sports, returning after years, or already experienced. Many of our members join solo and quickly become part of the community.

Pavel
Pavel was raised in Sweden, the birth country of Floorball, and has been playing since he was seven years old. When he was on exchange in Singapore he was amazed by how big the sport had become in a small country across the globe from its origins. He Co-founded Desert Sports to help fellow expats in Dubai continue enjoying sports, feel welcomed in a strong sporting community, and connect with likeminded people.
He coached several teams during the years, including teams of PwC, Stockholm School of Economics, Stockholm University, and at Stadium Sports Camp. Recently, he became a Board Member for the Students Association of Stockholm, where he develops the sports offering for students and corporates.
